History

Terminal Intermodale Venezia (TIV) is a privately-owned container terminal located in the commercial Port of Marghera within the Port of Venice. The terminal is jointly owned by Mariner, a Maltese-based company involved in port and logistics activities, and Marinvest, with full managerial responsibility lying with Mariner. Since its takeover by the current shareholders in 2003. TIV has become an important contributor within the Northern Adriatic logistical network through its intermodal handling of containerised cargo. The terminal’s operations are closely linked to the economy and policies of the affluent Veneto region in Italy. Serving as a gateway to Central and Eastern Europe and serving as an efficient interface for cargo flowing between the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Far East and Middle East, TIV has, over the past decade, yielded solid results.

History

Through timely and strategic investments such as the recent extension of the terminal area, the acquisition of new quay and yard equipment, and the procurement of management and tracking software, TIV has increased it's volumes year on year.

1995

Company formed

TIV was incorporated by the Compagnia Lavoratori Portuali in 1995 to run the previously multi-purpose terminal at Molo A in Marghera, providing integrated and efficient cargo handling services for the movement of various general and project cargo such as marble blocks, steel products and timber.

2003

Business development

In 2003 TIV was jointly taken over by Mariner and Marinvest as equal shareholders. They have since been extensively promoting the development of the container business at the port establishing TIV as a key player within the container sector in the region. Under the management of Mariner, TIV has demonstrated significant growth as evidenced by its increase in annual volumes and emergence from the economic crisis.
